How thick is the 1986 commonwealth games commemorative gold coin compared to the nickel brass coins issued ?
the coin i have is 3mm thick
also its not magnetic and its easily filed
liberty 911....i used a file to see how soft it was, one of the articals i read on it said the gold ones were softer than the nickle ones and that a nickle one probably wouldnt file, cant really see were i did it as i only did it a very tiny bit, also all the articals ive read do say the weight and diameter are the same, just none of them say how thick.
According to this link the nickel brass coins are the same diameter and weight as the gold coins but thicker. Why would you file it?
EDIT: According to the Royal Mint website, the £2 nickel-brass coin is 2.5mm thick.
