How much is my coin worth?

its in it own case.
Its a 1942 walking liberty.
Silver Half Dollar
I have had it for a long time.
Its in a case that i cant open, so its condition is decent

Being in a case means little except that the coin is protected, and 'decent' means nothing in the world of coin collecting. Coins have varying levels of condition, called 'grades', and differences in grade affect value significantly.

Your coin is a common date, and if it's in average circulated condition, it's really only worth the value of the silver content, or 'bullion value'. That is $6.34 cents as of today's New York silver closing price, though dealers will offer much less. If it's in one of the Mint State grades that start at 60 and go to 70, it might be worth a little more to a lot more. A complete set of 1942, one from each of the three mints (PDS) graded MS 63 by the top grading company PCGS, recently sold for about $170. A 1942 P in 'about circulated' 55 sold for $18.00.
